Adjusting the "Variables" for Inherent Risk Assessments

This article will explain how to adjust/edit the variables for the inherent risk assessments, as well as the scores associated to each variable. This includes threat, hazard, and compliance assessments.

Instructions

  1. Access the Scenario Page

    1. Navigate to the top left corner of the page, and press the 3 white lines to access application navigation.

    2. Select the “Organization Management” option in the navigation, and a dropdown will appear.

      1. Select “Scenarios,” and this will access the Scenarios page.

  2. From the left side of the Scenarios page, select the scenario that is going to be worked on. This will access the “Scenario Overview” page.

3. From this Scenario Overview Page, the user will find a number of settings that can be edited for the scenario. To reach inherent risk variables, the user will select the “Settings” page.

4. From the top of the settings page, select the “Inherent Risk” tab which will bring the user to the “Severity” and “Probability” factors page for the selected Scenario.

5. From this factor page, the user will be able to edit or add new variables to the scenario for analysis. The user can do this by:

  • clicking the “+” button in the top right of the Probability/Severity boxes

  • editing an already existing variable by clicking the pencil next to the factor

5. An “Add a Variable” box will pop up. From here:

  • The measures can be assigned a value from a 0 - 5 ranked scale

    • The description title of each box is synonymous to the point assigned to that measure.

      • If a description is added for rank 0, this measure will show up when conducting the inherent risk assessment. It will be assigned 0 points for when it is answered.

      • If a description is added for rank 5, this measure will show up when conducting the inherent risk assessment. It will be assigned 5 points for when it is answered.

  • The measures can be assigned a numeric value that can be any number assigned by the creator.

    • Any number that is or in between the minimum and maximum numbers can be used for the score.

6. Once “Create” is selected, the variable will be added/updated under its respective tab.

Additionally, this same page can be reached by selecting the “cog” symbol from the probability and/or severity matrix from a buildings inherent risk summary (seen below)

These steps can be repeated for hazard and compliance assessments as well.

The pictures that are available above and below are Circadian Risk’s example variables. While these variables are completely customizable to an organization, we believe the ones in these pictures are useful variables if an organization is not sure where to begin with the variables they think would need to be accounted for these inherent risk assessments.
